If you would like to join us, there's a simple procedure to follow. First you need to have a (small) portfolio of paintings to show us. This only needs to be three or four works, in any medium and not necessarily framed, that you have recently completed.
Then you need to contact us and let us know you are interested in becoming a member. We will get in touch with you to ask you to bring your pictures to the studio and discuss your painting with a committee member. Membership interviews are usually held several times a year, and are very informal and friendly, so it's nothing to worry about.
Shortly afterwards we will contact you again with an acceptance (yippee!) or a rejection (sob!) letter. Simple isn't it? Do it now while you're waiting for your supper.
At the moment there is a waiting list for membership, so add your name to the list before it gets any longer.
Current subscriptions are only £50 per annum for full membership (crikey, that's less than a pound a week! What a bargain) and £6 per annum for associate membership. Associate members support social activities and exhibitions but are not active artistically in the society; many are spouses or partners of full members.
Members have free use of the studio most weekdays and evenings when it has not been booked for workshops or demonstrations. Coffee and biscuits cost 30p. Workshops and demonstrations are normally charged at a nominal fee to cover the costs of the tutor.
