The Society organises a number of workshops each year at which professional artists and skilled amateurs offer advice and guidance to society members. Workshops are held in the Society's studio, and a range of media are catered for during the year. For a flavour of what the workshops are like, click here.
A list of the workshops for is shown here. Members wishing to attend any of these should contact the organiser.
Our workshops organiser welcomes feedback and is open to ideas for further workshops, perhaps introducing a new tutor or media or maybe a different approach to painting. The aim is to offer a friendly and supportive environment which responds to the needs and and interests of members. So, no need to be shy, make your wishes known. All requests will be considered.

Ian will demonstrate his unique way of painting starting with a large townscape and also two smaller paintings - one Pen and Watercolour of Altrincham and the other a drawing of Venice. Ian will donate the latter 2 paintings to the society. The “Altrincham” painting will be raffled at the demo (tickets £3 each on the day)This is your chance to win a BARGAIN original painting for the price of a ticket!
Vivienne will demonstrate how pattern, colour and natural form provide the focus for her floral watercolour paintings. Her aim is to produce a response in her painting that is both fresh and contemporary and not merely a faithful reproduction. Vivienne will bring a selection of her work and cards for us to see (also available for purchase).
Another chance to learn more about the possibilities available when using “Photoshop”. Joan will demonstrate and discuss how to manipulate and enhance photographs to produce a more “painterly” image. Members will then be able to try this process for themselves with step-by-step guidance from Joan.

Rob is heavily influenced by graphic and textile design. Typeface and stitching often sit side by side with more traditional media, creating unique pieces which can often veer towards abstraction. A fascinating approach.
Sandra’s atmospheric work is often inspired by the effect the changing seasons have on the landscape or seascape. Her vivid pastel paintings evoke a strong sense of time and place. Sandra will show us how to create this in our own paintings of the sea.
We have managed to persuade Carole to return once more for another stimulating workshop. Come and see how she creates. lively landscapes using her own individual layering technique with acrylic paint. Carol will demonstrate the importance of planning her work and her palette. She will then guide you through this technique using your own reference material.
Gillian will demonstrate how to loosen up your watercolour techniques. Please bring some flowers to add to your inspiration.
